About The Library

The MARY PICKFORD LIBRARY, managed by Timeline Films, is responsible for preserving and enhancing Mary Pickford's accomplishments as an actress, producer, director and writer.  Containing over 2000 photos, documents, and video copies of more of her films than any other archive, the Mary Pickford Library serves scholars, film buffs, researchers and the general public.

A privately funded research library located at the office of the Mary Pickford Institute for Film Education, it is open to the public on a by-appointment basis. Appointments may be made by calling the Institute in advance, and are usually available same-day, if required.

Nowhere in the world is there more information on Mary Pickford concentrated in one place. The Library contains films (many available for viewing at the Library on VHS screeners), photographs, documents, artifacts, and books related to the career of Ms. Pickford. Our helpful staff will assist you in attempting to answer any questions you may have about Mary Pickford, her life, career, and legacy.

Materials at the Library are also available for licensing for film, television, publication, and other purposes. Money raised from the licensing of Library holdings is used to further the mission of the Mary Pickford Institute for Film Education, including initiatives for film preservation and education in film history.

The Library can provide lectures and presentations on Mary Pickford, the formation of United Artists, and early film history for schools, universities, and various public events. Video excerpts of footage from the Library’s collection accompany the lectures.
